Speaking a Universal Language: Expressing Myself through Music
|
When I was a kid, I prided myself on being well-rounded. I excelled in school, participated in several sports, and played musical instruments. Attending college and choosing a major is essentially the definition of specialization, but it was important to me to continue to pursue other activities that I love. I value my commitment to music because it allows me to practice different skills and grow in ways that I often don't get to in a classroom or at the lab bench. Through music I have had the opportunity to serve in several different leadership capacities, to give back to my community through worthwhile service, to dedicate myself to the success of an organization that is bigger than myself, and to push myself to attain a high level of excellence. Preforming in ensembles at the University of Washington has been a central part of my undergraduate education. |
